PROKOFIEV’S BELOVED CHILDREN’S SYMPHONY PETER AND THE WOLF IN ENGLISH AND SPANISH BY BAY ATLANTIC CHAMBER ORCHESTRA IN FREE CONCERT ON APRIL 12 ATLANTIC CITY/BRIDGETON, NJ—Enjoy a musical treat for young and old alike as Sergei Prokofiev’s beloved children’s symphony Peter and the Wolf will be presented in a special free bilingual children’s concert by the Bay Atlantic Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Jed Gaylin, on Sunday, April 12, at 3 p.m., at Dante Hall Theater of Stockton University, 14 N. Mississippi Ave., Atlantic City, NJ. Acclaimed Dominican actor Carlos Espinal will narrate the work in Spanish and Paul Brodo, a Theater Performance major at Stockton University will narrate the work in English. Peter and the Wolf, since being composed by Prokofiev almost 80 years ago, has been performed and recorded in many languages by a host of actors and actresses, television and radio stars, political leaders, and other personalities, has never lost its charm or its ability to enchant and entertain. Though the concert is free, seats must be reserved by calling the Dante Hall Theater Box office at (609) 347-2162 or visiting the Dante Hall Theater’s website at www.stockton.edu/dante. About Carlos Espinal Carlos Espinal, born in Santo Domingo, in the Dominican Republic, is one of the most important stage actors of his country, in addition to being an acclaimed director, producer, and writer. After receiving training and starting his acting career in his native country, he went to New York, where he graduated from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy and went on at act and director for Teatro La Tea there. Among his credits are work at Repertorio Español, Circulo Theater, IATI Theater, Sociedad Educativa de Las Artes, Prometeo, and Teatro Arte Unido. As an actor, he has been seen as Chuy Badillo in the TV show Law and Order and has had a long and active career in Dominican television. In 1993, he was invited to perform the play Caligula at the National Theatre and was nominated Best Actor of the year for the “El Casandra Awards.” In addition his other credits, he was also was the voice of Cafe A La Media Noche (Midnight Coffee), the most relevant late-night radio show of the Dominican Republic. His portrayal of Molina in the internationally acclaimed musical The Kiss of The Spider Woman by Terrence McNally won him outstanding reviews and an award as Best Actor of the Year. In 2011 he toured in 30 Years Of Love, Passion & Tears—an exhibit and performance of his theater career and work as a poet and Master Class by Terrence McNally, “Best Production 2011”. The following year he presented at Dante Hall Theater his one-man show Peter El Rojo, The Gorilla—a bilingual monologue about immigration and acculturation, Best Actor of The Year 2014“. In May 2013, he directed the international success Glorious by Peter Quilter. About Paul Brodo Currently in his final semester at Stockton University, Paul Brodo has been acting on stage for the past 10 years. After graduation, he intends to pursue his Master of Fine Arts degree in Directing. His acting credits include Paravicini in The Mousetrap, Jonathan Brewster in Arsenic and Old Lace, Mitch in A Streetcar Named Desire, Lennie Small in Of Mice and Men, Chief Bromden in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, and Babis in The Courtyard of Miracles. About The Bay Atlantic Symphony Orchestra The aim of the Bay Atlantic Symphony is to share and develop a love for transcendent, live, concert music in southern New Jersey communities through performance and education. Since its founding as the Bridgeton Symphony in 1983, the orchestra has been recognized for its world-class performers, diverse programs and outstanding community services. World-renowned violinist Ryu Goto will be featured in Ludwig van Beethoven’s majestic Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 61, in a concert that will also include Claude Debussy’s Petite Suite, L 65, Igor Stravinsky’s Concerto in E-flat major, “Dumbarton Oaks,” and New Jersey composer Amanda Harberg’s Prayer.
